The CatToys.com company motto, Because Every Cat Needs Cat Toys, means a little bit more when you apply it to our Toys For Pets Program. The Toys For Pets Program allows customers like you to quickly and easily add a small donation whenever you place an order at CatToys.com. The proceeds from all toy donations are sent out to shelters and rescues across the country that are awaiting  your donations.

For some cats this will be their first experience with toys. Can you believe that? A life without cat toys? Sending toys to shelters gives them the opportunity to play with the cats and kittens which helps socialize them. Socializing the cats helps them get a forever home.

If you know a shelter or a rescue group that could benefit from our program please have them stop by our website for more information and an application.

Here are a few of the shelters and rescues we have recently sent donations.

Thanks to everyone who donated for making the lives of these animals a little brighter until they find their forever homes.

Normally we think of mice as food, but today (and every day) you can donate food with just the click of your computer mouse. Just visit FreeKibble.com and FreeKibbleKat.com and answer their trivia questions to donate 10 pieces of kibble (total of 20 pieces by visiting both).

Don’t worry if you get the questions wrong. The animals will still get the kibble donated and you get to learn something new.

Today, Thursday September 8th) FreeKibble.com is donating all the food they raise to two shelters in areas that were recently hard hit by hurricane Irene.

These much deserving shelters are Central Vermont Humane Society (http://cvhumane.com/) and the Fayetteville, NC Animal Protection Society ((http://www.fapspet.org/). This food will help them continue to support those effected by Irene.

So please take a minute out of your day today to help them reach today’s goal of 10,000 meals or 1 million pieces of kibble. Simply go to FreeKibble.com and FreeKibbleKat.com to answer the questions on their home pages.

While they have a big goal set for themselves for today, please remember you can donate kibble EVERY day simply by playing their trivia game.

We all know that the early part of the year is kitten season. Along with the warmer weather we get a new batch of kittens looking for homes. Shelters are already filled to the rim with cats that need our help. Take a look at just one rescue here in PA. One By One Cat Rescue has nearly a hundred and fifty cats available for adoption on PetFinder.com.

That is why June has become Adopt a Cat month.

Even if you can not actually adopt a cat this month (I know if you are like me you would love to help them all), why not adopt a cat virtually?

Many shelters and rescues have a sponsorship program where you can virtually adopt a cat by helping them with the costs of that cat on a monthly basis until it finds a forever home.

Please consider adopting or sponsoring a cat this month.

Every month time we send out donations it brings a smile to our faces knowing we are sending toys to dogs and cats that really need them. For some it may even be their first experience with toys! If you would like to donate a toy or two please stop by our site and make a donation today.

The following Toys For Pets donations are made possible by our wonderful customers like you!

Thanks once again to all our wonderful and giving customers!

We just sent out a few boxes of cat toys and treats that were donated by our great customers through our Toys For Pets Program on our website.

It is your kind donations that make this possible.

Our recipients for February were:

We will continue to keep you posted through out the year of where your donations are going and thank you for the continued support of our Toys for Pets Program because Every Cat Needs Cat Toys!

For years we have been getting donations from our wonderful customers to send out toys and treats to shelters and rescues across the country.

We just wanted to keep you informed where your donations are going so we will start posting the recipients here on our blog. Please consider donating by simply adding a treat or toy donation item in your shopping cart before to check out and THANK YOU for your support.

Here are the CatToys.com Recipients for November/December:

We helped Boris Kitty raise funds to help two local cats that were shot with a pellet gun by an unknown assailant.  Boris was able to raise $1200. The funds were given to the owner of Peanut to help reduce the financial burden of the vet bills from the incident. While Kritter Kondos, treats and toys were given to Kiki and Peanut to keep the happy and safe.

Thanks to our great customers we were able to donate $125 in cash to Boris Kitty’s drive.

We know most people want a kitten, but there are benefits to adopting an older cat. For instance you won’t be surprised by the size of your cat once he is fully grown, you are getting him at his full size. (Not that we as cat owners have to worry too much about this issue, but for some this can come as a surprise when that little kitten turns out to be a 25 lb jumbo cat.)

As adults their exercise requirements will be less. So you won’t have to deal with a rambunctious kitten running through the house.

You’ll know up front about any health or behavioral issues especially if you are dealing with a foster family through a rescue.

Even though your time with your older pet might be shortened the time you have will be very rewarding.

So if you are looking to get a new family pet why not take a serious look at adopting a senior animal. You just might find a new best friend.
