We know most people want a kitten, but there are benefits to adopting an older cat. For instance you won’t be surprised by the size of your cat once he is fully grown, you are getting him at his full size. (Not that we as cat owners have to worry too much about this issue, but for some this can come as a surprise when that little kitten turns out to be a 25 lb jumbo cat.)

As adults their exercise requirements will be less. So you won’t have to deal with a rambunctious kitten running through the house.

You’ll know up front about any health or behavioral issues especially if you are dealing with a foster family through a rescue.

Even though your time with your older pet might be shortened the time you have will be very rewarding.

So if you are looking to get a new family pet why not take a serious look at adopting a senior animal. You just might find a new best friend.
